Living in Each Moment and taking photos of it all
Write about your most epic baking or cooking fail.
When I was in college I could bake cookies and cook a few things but I was not great at either for sure. After I got married my mom got me a subscription to Cooking Light magazine. I decided it would be a good idea to make chicken with a homemade mole sauce and invite a bunch of people over to eat it! Not a fail but I definitely didn’t cook enough of it!
Over the years I have been a part of Tuesdays with Dorie and baked through Dorie Greenspan’s “Baking From My Home to Yours”, and part of French Fridays with Dorie and cooked through “Around my French Table”. I learned a ton of techniques from Dorie’s books and from other Doristas around the world!
Did everything come out great? No. Did I end up with wine on the ceiling because I attempted to open a bottle of wine with a corn cob knob? Yes. Even with my kitchen shenanigans, for the most part, even if something looked ugly it still tasted good!
One baking fail I had was a cake that turned out flat. My egg whites refused to whip. I just crumbled that cake up and made a trifle instead. After buying ingredients and spending time baking we were still eating it!
Even if you are scared to fail in the kitchen, still try! Fails can be fun and tasty!
